An Australian Government agency engaged Trestle Digital to develop the digital infrastructure strategy and indicative investment model for a proposed advanced technology innovation precinct. The engagement formed part of a broader feasibility study and business case for a collaborative precinct designed to bring together industry, research organisations and technology partners.
The proposed precinct aimed to support research, advanced technology development and industry collaboration through a shared innovation environment.
To support the business case, the client required an evidence-based assessment of the digital infrastructure needed to enable future operations. Rather than simply estimating ICT costs, the project needed to identify the technology capabilities required across connectivity, computing, collaboration, cyber security and data platforms, while providing realistic investment estimates and implementation considerations.
The strategy also needed to integrate with the broader feasibility study, ensuring technology requirements aligned with planning, architecture and long-term precinct objectives
Trestle Digital undertook stakeholder consultation, market analysis and benchmarking of comparable innovation precincts to define the technology vision for the development. A first-principles approach was used to identify user requirements, technology capabilities and investment priorities.
The strategy included recommendations across:
Alternative investment scenarios were developed to help decision-makers understand the relationship between functionality, capability, cost and long-term flexibility. The strategy also identified implementation risks, dependencies and future expansion pathways to support staged delivery
