Trestle Digital partnered with Curtin University to design and deliver two executive education programs for senior government officials from Vietnam as part of the Australia Awards Short Courses under the Aus4Skills Program. The engagement included developing course content, designing learning outcomes, delivering specialist modules and coordinating engagement with Australian government agencies, universities and industry. The program combined training in Vietnam with immersive study visits across Perth, Canberra and Melbourne, providing participants with practical insights into Australia’s approach to data governance, digital transformation and public sector innovation.
The Challenge

As governments increasingly rely on data to inform policy, deliver services and support economic growth, developing strong governance capability has become a national priority. The Australian Government sought to strengthen the capability of senior Vietnamese government officials responsible for digital transformation, data governance and public policy. The program aimed to build practical knowledge of data governance frameworks, ethical data management, artificial intelligence, digital policy and emerging technologies while fostering long-term institutional collaboration between Australia and Vietnam.

The challenge was to design learning experiences that combined international best practice with practical government case studies, exposing participants to both strategic policy development and real-world implementation across multiple jurisdictions.

Our Solution

Working with Curtin University, Trestle Digital developed significant components of two executive education programs covering Benefits of Digital, Services and Technologies, User Centred Design, Digital Transformation, Digital Infrastructure, Innovation Culture, Technology Stack and AI Policy in Data Governance . The engagement included designing learning modules, defining learning outcomes and delivering specialist content on digital strategy, artificial intelligence, data governance, technology architecture and emerging digital capabilities.

The programs combined classroom learning with visits to Australian government agencies, technology organisations, research institutions and critical infrastructure providers. Participants engaged directly with leaders from federal, state and local government, industry and academia, gaining first-hand exposure to Australia’s approaches to digital government, smart cities, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and data centre infrastructure.

The Result

The programs successfully brought together senior government officials, academics and industry leaders to build capability in contemporary approaches to data governance and digital transformation. Participants completed an intensive program delivered across Vietnam and Australia, combining strategic policy development with practical examples drawn from government, industry and research organisations.

The engagement strengthened relationships between Australian and Vietnamese institutions while providing participants with practical frameworks and international perspectives that could be applied within their own organisations. It also demonstrated Trestle Digital’s capability to design and deliver executive education programs that combine technology, policy and leadership for government audiences
